Practising for our concert

We have learned a multitude of skills whilst practising for our "Move, sing and play":
And whats more- we are having loads of fun.
To name a few:
Jumping and climbing, exersizing balance, strengthening abdominal muscles and most importantly learning to listen, respond to a cue, and wait in a queue for a turn.
Memorising rhymes and songs, creeping, exersizing upper arm (essential for pencil control and cutting) and leg muscles, learning to play musical instruments and exploring the potential of how to play music, learning rhythm and most importantly working as a team and creating musical harmony.
We look forward to sharing the joy of your precious child's development at the concert.
Enjoy the pictures!

Fourth Term

In Parsha the children learned that Avraham was blessed that his children would be as many as the stars in the sky...
These are some of the precious stars....

We have been learning about creation through circles. The children are each making a book of the days of creation that will be theirs...

Saphira and Elisheva read stories to each other...

We have been working with a physiotherapist on how to promote correct gross motor growth and with this in mind the children have been using the clamber club equipment all of the time and really enjoy doing so.

The children this term are working on a very special project. They are making toys for children that are less privileged then themselves. These toys will go to a school in Diepkloof run by Ma AFRIKA Tikkun. Here Batya, our new student, is working hard on this project.

winter warmups

we are practicing warm ups to music each morning. This has proved to be loads of fun, reflected by increased participation by all the little learners. These exercises are valuable in terms of large physical development and co-ordination, as well as improving vital thinking and listening skills.
We are still absorbed in the fun and color of the soccer world up. We are embroidering on the concepts of unity and hospitality, demonstrating by movement and song.
We are using the colors of the south african flag to increase knowledge and awareness of colors. We are using lateral thinking, peeking into our imaginary gardens and vegetable patch, linking colors with fruit and veg we eat.
watch this space for pics.
ps we became Picassos on the outside easle , applying creativity and mixing the colors we are learning about , on the outdoor easle.
Colors are: red, blue, white, green , yellow and black.
Please reinforce this at the table , shopping or meal preparation. This communication makes for most valuable in put and development.

Shabbos candle's for our girls

On Friday, all the girls received beautiful candle sticks as a present from the school as they are now 3 (or nearly 3), the age a Jewish girl starts to light Shabbos candles. We hope you will light your candle every week at the right time and Hashem should bless all your prayers every week as it is a very special time to daven for anything while lighting candles!

Thank you

Firstly a big thank you to all the moms for fantastic participation and full attendance at the Mommies day picnic. I'm sure you'll agree that the little stars were spectacular. Not to forget to mention the sunny weather and clear skies.

Shavuos has been our current focus. We are learning about bikkurim- the special fruits of Eretz Yisroel. We are talking about fruit, digging, planting, weeding, picking and of course sharing. We are very excited to be able to fill up our packet with our very own fruit this coming monday for the Yad Aharon recipients. We are highlighting this idea of giving and sharing- a theme to be continued throughout the year.

To re-enforce recognition of fruits we have painted and decorated with a variety of methods and materials, 3D baskets and crowns we can wear on Monday.

We are singing the song of giving the Torah on the mountain called Har Sinai. We are demonstrating by way of movement and miming that the mountains that boasted and shouted and complained did not achieve anything and this behaviour made Hashem sad. Hashem chose Har Sinai for His special Torah because she had preferable qualities of being quiet, waiting her turn and being humble.

Another key thing the children are enjoying is dairy. We are talking about the yummy milky foods we will be eating on Shavuos e.g. cheese cake. We are looking at the origin of these foods, milk, and tracing it to the mommy cow.

Happy birthday to our birthday children Zalman, Asher and Minna.
